Cyberbullying: What Parents Need To Know February 6, 2024 7:00PM Memorial Middle School Auditorium

🕵️ Detective Sgt. Rich brought the serious scoop on Internet safety to Memorial students on Monday. Sgt. Rich will return to Fair Lawn for a parent presentation in the Memorial auditorium. Details about the date and time of this presentation to follow. You won't want to miss it!

5th grade scientists at Memorial had a HOOT dissecting owl pellets as they explored energy in ecosystems!

Huge shout out to one of our TJ Orchestra students for being accepted into Region 1 Orchestra! Grace Chang, who is a 7th grader and a dedicated violin player, is now considered to be one of the best violinists in North Jersey! Congratulations Grace!

FLHS Senior, Prema Maringanti, was awarded a Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Certificate of Merit! Here is Prema pictured with Assemblywoman @shavondasumter, the keynote speaker at the ceremony. Way to go, Prema!

Unfortunately, due to inclement weather conditions, we must postpone this evening’s performance at TJMS. To allow adequate planning time for families, we have rescheduled for Tuesday, January 23 at 7pm.

We would like to thank the Tyszko family for their continued support and efforts to help others in memory of their son, Peter, who died on January 17, 2022 of complications from sarcoma. In the spirit of giving, they have organized what has become an annual blood drive, which will take place on Saturday, January 27, 2024. On Wednesday, December 20, the Multilingual Learners at TJMS had their annual Comfort Foods Party. This was a celebration of their book project in which each student writes a memoir piece about their family's favorite recipe or dish from their home country. Mrs. Finneran and Mrs. Palmieri also shared their own recipes with their classes. Staff was invited to attend to learn and celebrate with our students.

Congrats Juliet and Sianna! They were selected to the All-Bergen County Chorus! See them, along with our other talented musicians, at the FLHS Winter Vocal Concert! Wednesday, December 20 at 7 pm. Free admission!

TJ Wrap and Roll!! We are very thankful to all of our faculty/staff and TJ families for supporting our first Bergen Volunteers Adopt-a-Family for the Holidays. This year we supported four children under the age of nine being raised by their grandparents. Thanks to your generosity, we were able to purchase 6-10 toys per child, as well as 6-10 outfits each (along with new winter coats) with gift cards to Shop Rite and Walmart. Thank you to all who supported this great cause!

Laurie is recognized by her colleagues for going above and beyond the call of duty to make a difference in the lives of her special needs students. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, she is also a constant source of information and guidance to all teachers helping them to use techniques and strategies in their own classrooms. Laurie's warm and nurturing nature allows her students to succeed and thrive in her classroom.

Congratulations to Memorial Middle School's Teacher of the Year, Ms. Nicole Arencibia, and Educational Specialist of the Year, Ms. Laura Corino-Policastro! Ms. Arencibia has been sharing her talents with Fair Lawn students for nine years. Ms. Arencibia has created a learning environment that serves as an inclusive space where artistic expression knows no bounds and where everyone feels valued and empowered. Ms. Laura Corino-Policastro has been a paraprofessional for Fair Lawn Schools for 20 years. Colleagues describe Ms. Corino-Policastro as a “go getter”. Her exceptional ability to engage all students, coupled with her selfless nature, embodies her commitment to always placing others’ needs before her own.
