Milnes and TJMS (May 9, 2022) – Two students were selected as state winners of the NJ Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages/NJ Bilingual Educators (NJTESOL/NJBE) Writing Challenge. The writing prompt asked students to provide advice to teachers/classmates on how to help students learning another language.

Milnes fourth-grader Aaron Chen was the state winner of the NJTESOL/NJBE Fourth Grade English Writing Challenge.  This challenge was open to all ELL fourth-graders in the state and Aaron was awarded an iPad.  He attended the award’s ceremony virtually. To read Aaron’s essay, click here.

TJMS eighth-grader Elizaveta Melchakova was the state winner of the NJTESOL/NJBE Eighth Grade English Writing Challenge.  This challenge was open to all ELL eighth-graders in New Jersey and she was awarded with a laptop.  Elizaveta accepted her award virtually.
