SGA President Candidates

Reem Alwan: My name is Reem Alwan, and I am a dedicated junior at our school. I am enthusiastically stepping forward to run for the crucial role of Student Government President. My prior leadership experience, particularly on the executive committee, has ingrained in me the values of inclusivity, intellectual growth, and the importance of a well-rounded student experience. This journey has honed my ability to understand diverse perspectives and has instilled in me the responsibility of voicing the collective interests of our student body. With a dynamic vision for the presidency, I'm ready to leverage my experience and passion to lead us forward. My commitment is empowering your voices, fostering unity within our community, and creating a lasting impact. I kindly ask for your vote, as I aspire to be a Student Government President who represents and stands up for everyone.

Amira Guevara: My name is Amira Guevara, and I am currently a junior seeking the position of SGA President. I believe that I am well equipped for this position due to my versatile leadership experience such as serving as Company 1’s first female Junior Firefighter, President of Engineering Club, and President/Founder of Cutter Mindfulness (Mental Health Club). I have always been passionate about bettering myself and my community whether in firegear or plain school clothes; I’m not simply a leader, I am with my people.

SGA Vice President Candidates

Daniel Jimenez: Hello, my name is Daniel Jimenez, and I'm currently a sophomore at FLHS. I'm competing for vice president, and I'm excited to see what the future of FLHS holds for me. I am a strong candidate because I have a lot of leadership experience. Examples include serving as a tour guide during Common Ground, taking part in the open house for eighth graders, and serving as an SGA homeroom representative and executive committee member the past two years. Along with having self-awareness, respect, and teamwork, I also possess other leadership traits. I'm excited to see what the future holds for me as vice president because I am confident that I can make a significant difference while I am vice president.

Dev Shah: Hi, my name is Dev Shah and I am a sophomore running for Vice President of SGA. I will fulfill all the roles of my position including assuming the role of president whenever they are not available and any other obligations I am needed for. I have been involved in many school activities and want to bring change to improve the following school years. Some events that show I am capable for this position and leadership roles are that I am the captain of my JV volleyball team and an active member of peer leadership. Make a change and vote Dev Shah for SGA Vice President.

SGA Secretary Candidates

Dedan Choezom: Hello everyone! I am Dedan Choezom and I am running for SGA Secretary. I am currently a sophomore and Sophomore Class Secretary. I was also elected Freshman Class Secretary. As someone who has experience with this role, when you vote for me, you are not only voting for just a leader but a Secretary with a background in other positions as my officer experience allows me to be aware of all the expectations. I fulfill my obligations in an organized, timely manner, and am open to all opinions. Furthermore, I am responsible, capable, resilient, competent, and a team player. I plan to contribute and dedicate my time outside of school to SGA and do anything that needs to be done. Thank you and I hope you will elect Dedan Choezom as SGA Secretary.

SGA Treasurer Candidates

Jenna Walker: Hello, my name is Jenna Walker, and I am currently a junior in Fair Lawn High School. I am running for the position of treasurer and am excited to see what the future holds. I have a lot of previous leadership experience that has prepared me greatly for this role including working at an ice cream store, working at American Eagle, working at a summer camp, being a part of the executive committee for SGA, and being in three honor societies. Of course I could go on and on about more of what makes me qualified for this position but I think my attention to detail, team work skills, and motivation is also something worth noting. With these essential qualities, I can confidently say that I will do my best to make Fair Lawn High School the best it can be and live out my last year here with great success.

SGA BOE Rep. Candidates

Prema Maringanti: My name is Prema Maringanti and I’m running for the position of Board of Education Representative for Student Government Association. I’ve always had a passion for bridging the gap between the Board of Education and the students it represents, and as a member of SGA I’d like to work on issues affecting the whole school, such as the dress code, AP exam protocol, and contributing to the General Assembly. I hope to have meaningful conversations and projects in my position and be a strong liaison between the administration and the students to create the best environment possible.
