About Us:

The Human Resources department provides support services for employees of the Fair Lawn School District and coordinates the recruitment and selection of all district employees and substitutes. Our mission is to attract, retain, and support high quality personnel for positions within the school system.

Coaches

1. Complete a fingerprinting and background check with the Office of Student Protection via Indentogo.

2. Apply for a State Substitute Credential if you do not currently hold a teaching certificate. Please note you must first have your fingerprint approval before you can begin the process for a State Substitute Credential.

3. Complete a Physical and Mantoux (TB) test.

Criminal History Background Check

The Criminal History Background Check is a mandatory requirement for all Onboarding Fair Lawn Board of Education employees. Click the link above for the instructions on completing Criminal History Background Check/Fingerprinting process.

Tuition Reimbursement/Advancement on the Guide

Fair Lawn Public Schools provides tuition reimbursement for Instructional and Educational Services employees under the following guidelines:

  • Courses must be directly related to area of present service

  • Courses must have the prior approval of the Superintendent or his/her designee

  • Courses must be taken at an accredited college or university

  • Reimbursement will not exceed $1,200 per person

  • No reimbursement will be given for any grade lower than a B-

  • All documentation required for tuition reimbursement is to be provided to HR no later than June 1st

  • Reimbursement will be distributed by July 30th for the previous school year

  • Tuition reimbursement for all eligible FLEA members shall not exceed sixty thousand dollars ($60,000) per budget year

Advancement on the Guide Application Instructions

We are excited to announce that our Advancement on the Guide process has now moved online! To apply for Advancement on the Guide, please complete the following steps:

1. Complete the "Advancement on the Guide Form - FLEA Full Time Instructional Staff" in Frontline Central. You can access this form from your home page by selecting "My Forms" then "Forms I can start." You can login to Frontline Central here.

2. Upon completion of classes, you must upload your OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS to the form for approval. If you are emailing transcripts directly from the College, please select the EMAIL TRANSCRIPTS option and send your transcripts to transcripts@fairlawnschools.org

For advancement effective January 1st, all coursework must be completed and any degrees conferred by December 31st of the current school year. For advancement effective September 1st, all coursework must be completed and any degrees conferred by August 31st of the current school year. 

Please be aware that any Advancement on the Guide will be reflected in your payroll statement after it has been approved by the Fair Lawn Board of Education.

Tuition Reimbursement Application Instructions

To apply for Tuition Reimbursement, please complete the following steps: 

1. Fill out the "Course Approval/Tuition Reimbursement" Google Form below.

a. Fill out your name, primary school, grade/subject, course number and title, number of credits, cost, enrollment dates, name and location of higher education institution, and upload a copy of the official course description.

2. After submitting the form, you will receive an email from HR stating whether or not your Tuition Reimbursement Application was approved. 

3. Upon completion of the course, complete the "Verification of Course Completion" form on Frontline Central. You can login to Frontline Central here.

Upload your:

  • a) Transcripts/grade report 

  • b) Bursar's receipt 

  • c) Voucher  

For 2025-2026 reimbursement, all coursework must begin and end within the current school year, beginning July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026.

Reasonable Accommodation

Pursuant to District Policy 1510, Americans with Disabilities Act, “it is the policy of the Board of Education that no qualified individual with a disability will, on the basis of disability, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination in employment or under any program, activity, or services sponsored by this Board. Additionally, Policy 1510 provides:

Reasonable accommodations, not directly affecting the educational and/or instructional program, will be made to accommodate employment conditions to the needs of qualified individuals with disabilities, such accommodations may include, but are not limited to: making existing facilities used by employees readily accessible to and usable by individuals with disabilities, job restructuring, part-time modified work schedules, reassignment to a vacant position, acquisition or modification of equipment or devices, appropriate adjustment or modifications of examinations, training materials or policies, the provision of qualified readers or interpreters, and other similar accommodations for individuals with disabilities.

Pursuant to Regulation 1510, Americans with Disabilities Act, the Board of Education:

will not interfere, directly or indirectly, with any person's exercise or enjoyment of the rights protected by the Act.

will not discriminate against any person for that person's opposition to any act or practice made unlawful by law or this Policy or for that person's participation in any manner in an investigation or proceeding arising under the act.

Employees seeking a reasonable accommodation due to a known physical or mental limitation may do the following:

1. Complete the district’s Reasonable Accommodation Request Form and attach supporting documents;

2. Submit the form, with supporting documents, to Meg Baldwin, HR Generalist, in the HR Department at mbaldwin@fairlawnschools.org;

3. Participate in an interactive process meeting with HR to discuss possible accommodations.
