COFFEE WITH THE SUPERINTENDENT

Dear Parents and Guardians:

"Success for Every Student" and "Quality and Continuous Improvement" are the 2007-2008 district goals for the Fair Lawn Public Schools. They are the broad, overarching standards to which all other goals are linked: school goals, classroom goals, and administrative goals. Indeed, our shared focus on continuous improvement and success for every student attending the Fair Lawn Public Schools provides a strong foundation for all we do everyday, in every school and classroom.

Beyond setting effective and measurable goals, Boards of Education and Superintendents must be able to articulate their educational mission, align the district’s finite resources with the educational needs of the district, and create a positive learning environment that is supported by a shared understanding of the issues that exist both in and beyond the schools. To this end, the Board of Education and Superintendent must ensure that the lines of communication are open—that all voices and opinions are heard. This is the "human dimension" that is so important to the success of our public schools.

"Coffee with the Superintendent" will provide a new opportunity for open communication. Please join me, to share information about our schools, voice your opinions, and make suggestions affecting the education of our children. You will find me to be a very good listener.

I have arranged for three dates and times at Memorial Middle School in an effort to accommodate as many schedules as possible. There is sufficient parking behind the school.
